Having joined ECBS just over a year ago, David Knox has become a key part of the team, bringing a driven mindset and strong focus on delivering value for clients. We caught up with David to hear more about his experience at ECBS, moving into the energy industry, and what stands out most about working within a growing business.
A results-driven environment
One of the biggest differences at ECBS has been the ability to directly influence his own progression and earnings through performance, rather than waiting for opportunities to become available.
“If you’re somebody who is sick of going above and beyond in an industry and getting no reward for your efforts, come and work at ECBS. The constant incentives and great commission structure will motivate you to push yourself because you know at the end of the month you’ll be reaping the rewards for the hard work.”
Progression and growth
Although still relatively early into his journey with the business, David says one of the most refreshing aspects of ECBS has been seeing how quickly the company and its people continue to grow.
“Since I joined the company in February last year, I’ve seen expansion into a larger office space, a whole new team added, and at least four people move from sales roles into leadership roles.”
“For me, this is especially refreshing because in a previous role I was constantly a top performer and had ambitions to move up the ranks, but there was very little opportunity to progress.”
The continued growth of the business has created an environment where development and progression are visible across the company.
Training and support
Moving into a completely new industry can naturally feel daunting, particularly within sales-focused environments where support can sometimes be limited. However, David says the onboarding and development at ECBS quickly gave him confidence.
“Moving into a completely new industry was inevitably quite daunting as I know a lot of sales companies have a sink or swim approach where they throw you in the deep end with minimal training.”
“When I began my journey with ECBS, the first training week catapulted my success at the business and made me feel well equipped with enough information in my arsenal to deal with any questions thrown my way.”
He also highlighted the continued support available across the business beyond the initial training period.
“When I began, I assumed that if they put this much effort into development in my first week, I’d then be left to my own devices. I couldn’t have been more wrong.”
“Constant catch ups and 1-to-1 meetings with team leaders and Learning & Development made sure I was still progressing. Now that the stabilisers are off, naturally there isn’t as much need for daily 1-to-1s, but support is always just one email away.”
